Ethico-Aesthetics of AI 2025

This is a series of online events we aim to host this year at a contemporary pace. We believe the digital art scene, particularly in light of the profound impact of recent AI developments on creativity, provides a fertile digital ground for global gatherings of diverse perspectives and knowledge to collectively reflect on the historical phenomenon of AI today.

For this format, we drew inspiration from the French term ensemble général, which we interpret as a flat space for diverse ideas to be debated before reaching collective decisions. We believe such encounters are precisely what we need—and lack—in today’s creative market, which is increasingly saturated with countless talks, conferences, and summits that often amount to gatherings of like-minded individuals pursuing shared values and objectives. Similarly, the academic market is marked by the proliferation of unread papers, closed-source and inaccessible works, unaffordable participation and enrolment fees, and a bureaucracy of quantitative evaluation, all of which prioritise visibility and recognition for individuals over critical thinking and creative becoming—perhaps, in the end, quite literally.

Ensemble général also refers to the final rehearsal before a performance. In the context of ongoing discussions about humanity’s attempts at “representative” data curation and the rapidly increasing influence of algorithmic control on our contemporary consciousness, we find this dual meaning particularly resonant with our present condition.

We welcome contributions from the humanities, social sciences, and beyond, particularly from the arts, physics, AI technology, philosophy, space technology, policy, international law, neuroscience, academia, and any other fields we have yet to learn from or include. The sessions will be open to everyone and conducted in English. We warmly welcome and greatly appreciate any actions or ideas to enhance accessibility, whether through sign language interpretation or other languages.

We will invite speakers from various fields not to deliver formal speeches but to enrich the debate with contextual and critical knowledge. Please feel free to invite individuals you would like to engage in conversation or hear debating AI. Additionally, if you would like to take part in the organisation in any capacity, please reach out to us at contact@capitart.com.

Finally, we would value your thoughts on what you believe to be the most suitable online platforms for gatherings that genuinely allow free speech today. We plan to start with Zoom (interlinked to Youtube and Discord), as it seems to be an accessible, easy-to-use format that permits a degree of collective decision-making. We look forward to your suggestions.
